Seahorses
Over the ages, many stories have been told about seahorses. Although they seem imaginary, seahorses are real. The seahorse got its name because its head looks like the head of a horse. As the name hints, seahorses live in the sea. They cannot live in fresh water, such as ponds or lakes. They mostly stay near the coast in warm, tropical waters. Like other fish, seahorses breathe through their gills. However, seahorses are different from other fish in several ways. For example, they use their curled tails to hang on to sea plants such as seaweed. They are also distinct because they do not have scales, and they swim upright. The most unusual fact about seahorses is that the male has the babies!
